Breathing regulators and hoses

The regulator is the most important part of a diver's equipment. This device is designed to supply the diver with air in the required quantity and at the required pressure and in automatic mode. The safety and comfort of the diver's stay underwater directly depend on the stable and reliable operation of the regulator. Modern regulators consist of three interconnected elements: the first stage, called the reducer, reduces the high pressure from the cylinder to 8.5-9.5 BAR. The second stage, called the breathing apparatus. It reduces the average pressure to the ambient pressure at the current depth, so the diver can breathe easily and naturally, as on the surface. Another important feature of the second stage is that air enters the diver's mouth only when he inhales. This is a vital feature of diving regulators, because a constant flow of air would very quickly deplete the air in the diving cylinder.

The third part is a flexible hose that connects the reducer and breathing apparatus into one system - the regulator.

All modern regulators are designed according to the same principle, but differ from each other in many technical solutions.

When choosing a regulator, it is important to pay attention to the temperature of the water you are going to dive in. If the water temperature is below 10 C, you should choose a regulator designed for cold water diving. For diving in Lithuania, we recommend purchasing a regulator designed for cold water, because when diving deeper (above 10 m), the water temperature will be below 10 C in the summer.
