BCDs and their parts
As you dive deeper, the pressure changes, which affects your buoyancy underwater. A buoyancy compensator or buoyancy vest allows a diver to regulate their buoyancy underwater and ensure positive buoyancy on the surface of the water. BCDs are divided into two main types: the "wing" type (where air fills the part of the vest located only in the back area) and the classic type, where air also fills the front part of the vest. Experienced divers usually choose the "wing" type of vest, because the air located only in the back area does not cause you any discomfort. However, this type of vest, when inflated on the surface of the water, pushes you forward slightly. If you are just a beginner diver, we recommend choosing a classic type of BCD, which will ensure stable and safe buoyancy on the surface of the water while waiting for a boat or swimming on the surface of the water to the shore.
