MIKASA BV550C beach volleyball is the official FIVB (International Volleyball Federation) competition ball. It is used in all official FIVB competitions: the Olympic Games, World and European Championships, World Tour stages, etc.
After decades of research and development, MIKASA has used feedback from the world's best beach volleyball players and coaches to create the new MIKASA BV550C beach volleyball, based on the most modern and environmentally friendly technology. The new ball, officially named Mikasa Beach Pro BV550C, is made of ten perfectly balanced panels with a two-layer surface and a two-layer "No-Leak" butyl chamber.
The ball's three-color combination ensures excellent visibility. In addition to the color innovations, Mikasa introduces the "dimple" technology, which has proven itself in the production of indoor volleyballs, for the first time in beach volleyball. The slightly rough surface of the ball not only improves grip, but also ensures maximum precision and "sensitive" ball control. The patented and unique TwinSTLock seam technology has been further improved so that Mikasa BV550C ball is now maximally waterproof. The weight of the ball practically does not increase even in heavy rain. The new shape of the MIKASA BV550C valve ball is designed to ensure even better tightness and durability. Now, micro particles of sand do not get inside the valve and do not damage it from the inside. In the production of the new ball, Mikasa paid great attention to sustainability. Mikasa BV550C is made of high-quality synthetic leather, which is obtained from recycled nylon. In addition, no solvent-based paints are used in the production.
The new BV550C replaces the old VLS300 model. The new beach ball features improved water resistance compared to the VLS300, a surface with grooves designed to improve grip and ensure better ball control and accuracy, as well as a new valve mechanism that increases tightness and prevents sand from entering the ball. The updated surface design ensures good visibility during play. The newly developed material, together with the improved TwinSTlock thread technology, increases water resistance. MIKASA BV550C also reduces its environmental impact. The ball is made of synthetic leather combined with recycled nylon, and paints, the main pigment solvent of which is water.
