More information:
The company Tunturi began 1922 in Turku, Finland, when brothers Aarne and Eero Harke opened a bicycle shop called Pyöräkellari Oy. At first, they focused on bicycle repair, and later produced bicycles under the Tunturi name. The brand was very successful, so within a few years the small shop was transformed into a factory, and in the 1950s the Tunturi brand became the leader in the country's moped market. Using the technology and knowledge of bicycle manufacturing, Tunturi expanded its activities and began producing other sports equipment.
1969 , Tunturi changed the entire fitness industry by introducing the world's first home-use pedal ergometer, and a year later it was internationally recognized as a manufacturer of sports equipment.
In the 1980s, a strategic decision was made to focus on the production of Tunturi exercise equipment and Tunturi bicycles. This decision was very important for the further development of the brand. Now Tunturi is a well-known brand in the Scandinavian countries, and Tunturi fitness products are sold in more than 40 countries around the world. Currently, Tunturi is headquartered in Almere (near Amsterdam, the Netherlands) and is part of the Accell Group.
